PMHNP Student Clinical Placement
We offer a competitive year-long internship for final-year PMHNP students. Our next placement begins in 2026, and applications open November 2025.
PMHNP Preceptorship Program - 2026 Placement
Our practice offers a limited, competitive clinical internship for final-year Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) students. This year-long placement provides 400 supervised clinical hours with patients across the lifespan with disorders like ADHD, OCD, BPD, Bipolar disorder, Schizophrenia, PTSD, and more. Interns are gradually introduced to clinical responsibilities and receive supervision from our full team of psychiatric nurse practitioners and masters-level therapists, offering diverse perspectives and real-world collaboration.

Our program is intentionally designed to offer 400 clinical hours over the course of one year. This allows time to build strong relationships with your mentors at our practice and develop independent practice over time. We strongly encourage students to pursue at least one alternate placement to round out their training - particularly in settings that offer experience in geriatric prescribing, inpatient psychiatry, or other higher-acuity care. This approach reflects our belief that a well-rounded PMHNP education benefits from both longevity in a clinical placement and exposure to multiple care environments.

What Makes Our Program Unique
-
Team-Based Supervision: Interns receive mentorship and feedback from multiple NPs, encouraging growth through varied clinical approaches and experiences.
-
Developmentally Attuned Training: We tailor learning to the intern’s pace and comfort level, starting slowly and increasing complexity over time.
-
Diverse Patient Population: Exposure to a wide range of clinical presentations across child, adolescent, and adult populations.
-
Integrated Practice Setting: Our practice collaborates closely with therapists and has a strong integrative holistic model of care. PMHNP students will have the opportunity to develop therapy skills alongside their prescribing skills.

By the End of the Year, Interns Will Be Able To:
-
Conduct psychiatric assessments and create treatment plans under supervision
-
Gain confidence in psychopharmacological decision-making across age groups
-
Collaborate effectively in a team-based outpatient setting
-
Build therapeutic relationships and manage continuity of care
-
Understand ethical and practical considerations of private practice psychiatry
